Radio-Frequency Treatment for Lumbar Spine Case #1

Radio frequency treatment for back pain

THE CASE

This Lumbar case was conducted on 23rd February 2021 at a hospital in Negeri Sembilan. The procedure was conducted by an Orthopaedic/Spine surgeon specialist on a 30 years old man. The patient complained of occasional low back pain radiating to his left leg.

Figure 1 shows the disc in the L5S1 level is blackish on MRI
Figure 1 shows bulging L5S1 disc on MRI examination.

RADIO FREQUENCY TREATMENT

The patient presented with low back pain with left radiculopathy. The patient has been treated with Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) procedures to his lumbar spine, which included Sacral Pulsed RF, RF of Facet Joint, RF Nucleus Pulposus, and RF Dorsal Root Ganglion.

RF procedure is a minimally invasive interventional pain management technique to treat spinal problems/pain, without surgery. It is a very safe and effective method to reduce back pain. The patient used Premium Medical Brace, Venum Hybrid from Southern Crescent Sdn Bhd for additional support to the lumbar spine.
